that's Bo who was kind enough to volunteer his time and his air compressor.

that's the xs650 frame I used to mock up my stuff for painting

wow I gotta check this more often

I don't remember where I left off.
The bike has been on the road now for a couple of months.
I have ran in to many problems. Like the front brake wouldn't release. I lost parts too the back breaks. Had an oil leak from a bent clutch actuating rod.I left the petcock on once and the gas ran through the carbs and over the pistons and down to the oil. Actually that happend twice. so Ihave changed the oil twice and all the above problems were worked through in the order that they showed up.Yesterday was my birthday so I took the bike out for a run. The longest run to date I was probably out riding for roughly an hour. The bike did great and nothing feel off or broke. Here's some pics for you people who check the blog out once in awhile.ok nevermind. seems to be a problem uploading pics.

updates pics soon

ok so my cafe racer is still not on the road. everything has been done except for new tires.got the exhaust back on and a new rear set linkage made.I put a taillight on it from the xs650 that benge gave me. tires have been ordered and waiting their arrival. looks like I need to clean the carbs again cause one is sticking. but looks like I'm just a few weeks from having it on the road.

So for the gold bike that I picked up looks like I'm gonna make a softail bobber out of it.
So far I've lengthend the swingarm 4.5 inches. put on ape hanger bars. and wrapped the exhaust with hedder wrap.also I chopped off the back of the frame. I have a gas tank on it's way from a cx500 witch is a cool looking tank.I'm still in the process of wiring the bike and getting rid of the useless things like turn signals and speedometer. pics to come soon

addiction

Apparently bikes are just as addictive as tattoo's. I just bought my second cb450.It is a 1970 model and is missing a gas tank and the clutch cable doesn't work. The throttle cable needs attention also. But it did come with this old school aftermarket trunk and an old bell helmet. I wanted the bike because it had a title and a whole lot of parts. But after bringing it home in the back of the wife's isuzu trooper. All the way from asheville ,long ride. And then parking it in my living room downstairs I'm starting to think I can fix it and put it back on the road.Time will tell but my main goal is to get my red bike on the road A.S.A.P. It still needs the front forks rebuilt,a brakelight, and a rider with a license

latest pics

So far I have rebuilt the fuel petcock twice
added homemade clip on handle bars machined by Bo paige @ neptco
added rear sets(rear sets move the foot controls back actually they are mounted where the passenger pegs were)
I have removed
-the fenders
-the rear turn signals
-the kick stand (will use the center stand)
-the speedometer
-original seat
-right side mirror
-passenger pegs
-driver pegs
-the back half of the exhaust pipes are gone too
Have probably shaved 45lbs from this little monster which will help the overall performance
made a kickass center mount for the tach (thanx Bo)
and adjusted the point 50 times till I got it right

things left to do
-mount the new cafe seat
-buy or build a tag holder/brakelight
-get a title
-new race compound tires
-ride it like I stole it : )
